The Māwhera Adventurers programme is designed for young adventurers and involves 2 days of action, nature immersion and outdoor exploration for tamariki from the Greymouth Region.
Whilst exploring, Māwhera adventurers will go on a nature connection journey that will not only build their confidence it will nurture a passion for environmental protection. The programme includes active, playful and wild adventures that establish a connection to nature that tamariki can keep building on for a lifetime.
Whilst being immersed in nature our young adventurers will explore how they can not only restore nature, but also be restored by nature.
The Māwhera Adventurers holiday programme will include a variety of mini outdoor adventures depending on the time of year. These may include:
- An introduction to bush skills
- Navigation skills
- Cooking in the outdoors
- A range of adventurous outdoor activities
- Fun Whenua Iti Outdoor (WIO) challenges & games
The 2 day programme of adventure focuses on different nature elements including; ngahere (forest), takutai (coast), whenua (land), and awa (river), along the way tamariki will explore how as individuals we can best look after these taonga (treasures). The Māwhera Adventurers programme activities vary depending on the time of year.

Just wanted to say thanks to the team for the fantastic week my son had last week with Māwhera Adventurers, he came home saying he wished it went for another couple of days – he enjoyed it so much! (The instructors) were absolutely fabulous with the kids from what I have heard from my son and the adventures they went on were fantastic!
