Join Whenua Iti Outdoors to complete all or part of your Adventurous Journey Award component on an unforgettable adventure.
Venture into one of our stunning local national parks or surrounds, such as the Kahurangi, Nelson Lakes or Abel Tasman on a journey that you help plan! This journey will enable you to complete both your Practice AND your Qualifier at the Bronze or Silver Award levels. This is true for the Kākāriki Journey as well.
Plan your Journey
Our instructors support participants to understand how to prepare and plan for your journey. Once you have your practice journey under your belt, participants will then be extended to lead the planning, preparation and decision-making for the journey whenever possible, supported by our qualified and experienced instructors. Your journey will include cooking in the outdoors, bush survival, bush skills and navigation, with a plan for different options to suit the season and weather for your journey. We provide all transport, activities, outdoor gear and qualified instructors.
If you are a group of 6 or more we recommend you contact us for a tailored programme. You will then be able to co-design a journey with your instructors that could include other activities such as mountain biking, sea kayaking, rock climbing and caving for any level of your Award.
