Build on a love of the outdoors by learning technical and practical outdoor skills in a team environment.
Participants have the opportunity of completing 4 – 6 Level 2 NCEA credits on each block of this programme.
This programme is a fantastic opportunity to introduce students to the outdoors through a variety of disciplines in a fun and supportive environment, where they will overcome various challenges to build their knowledge and confidence to promote future independence on outdoors adventures. The programme will run as four one-week blocks. Students will have a great experience meeting new people and exploring the beautiful outdoor environments of Te Tau Ihu.
Students can enrol on one or multiple blocks for 2022:

Block 2 | Rock Climbing | L2 | 4 credits | 25 – 28 October |
Block 3 | Mountain Biking | L2 | 5 credits | 31 Oct – 03 Nov |
Block 4 | Caving | L2 | 5 credits | 07 – 10 November |


Learning Objectives
Students will have the opportunity to achieve academic learning objectives that contribute to their National Certificate of Education Achievement (NCEA) and develop crucial personal and social development skills.
This curriculum for each block is equivalent to 25% of the Whenua Iti Outdoors Trades Academy programme – Adventure Skills Development Level 3.

Personal and social skills are transferable to any chosen career pathway and are considered essential skills by employers.
