Primary School Camps

We specialise in offering adventure-based and well organised programmes as part of a unique school camp designed for your students.

School or Whenua Iti Outdoors-Led

You can choose whether we take care of everything or contract us to deliver specific activities only (e.g. Abseiling or Beach Skills day). Our skillful education team modify programmes and activities to match your objectives, student year levels and programme timeframes.

Adventurous, Organised & Safe

The learning that is possible on a Whenua Iti Outdoors camp sets us apart, we offer access to a range of activities and all of our programmes have an education focus. Find out more on our Outcomes & Activities page.

We ensure that your students have equal access to all activities by providing all specialist outdoor equipment. If needed we can also offer personal gear to participants such as boots or sleeping equipment.

Programme Options

There are a wide range of programme activities available within a WIO camp programme. Three classic camp programmes are shown below.

Kahurangi Mountain Adventure

Explore the Kahurangi National Park, choose from:

  • caving
  • tramping
  • rock climbing
  • learning about bush survival
  • fire cooking

Abel Tasman Coastal Adventure

Explore the Abel Tasman National Park, choose from:

  • sea kayaking
  • tramping
  • survival swimming
  • coasteering
  • waka ama

Basecamp Adventure

Our base is a beautiful setting for adventure based activities, choose from:

  • low or high ropes
  • adventure based learning (ABL)
  • haka and mau rākau workshops
  • tower climbing or abseiling
  • trapeze
  • flying kiore

Costs vary depending on group size, length of programme and activities selected.  Wherever possible we will include subsidies if available.

Average camp programme cost – $65 – $115 + GST per person / per day
Average food cost* – $17.50 + GST per person / per day

Camp dates available on request, subject to instructor availability.


Programme cost includes tuition, accommodation, specialist equipment and transport within the programme.

Schools can elect to self-cater if they prefer.

You're in safe hands. Our friendly & highly professional instructors are all industry qualified for a wide range of activities.


NZQA Qualified and NCEA Aligned

We are NZQA accredited, can offer NCEA Level 1-3 assessments and all programmes align with the NZ Curriculum key competencies.


Safety Accredited

We put safety first. We are a registered provider of Adventure Activities with Worksafe NZ, and are Safety audit certified with OutdoorsMark.
