Whenua Iti Outdoors offers a wide range of quality learning experiences outside of the classroom.
We cater to all ages from Year 1 to Year 13 and our wide range of activities cater to many different learning outcomes. Whenua Iti Outdoors has been delivering education focused programmes for 30 years.
Over the last three years supporting schools has become our primary focus. Our programmes are aligned with the New Zealand Curriculum, we are accredited with the NZ Qualifications Authority and work with schools from around the country.
Our Education Credentials
Whenua Iti Outdoors school programmes are underpinned by the New Zealand Curriculum (NZC) Framework and have strong links to the NZC key competencies:
- Thinking,
- Managing Self,
- Relating to Others,
- Participating and Contributing,
- Using language, and symbols and text.
All Whenua Iti Outdoors instructors are highly trained and skilled educators. Our education rating from NZQA is “highly confident in the education performance of Whenua Iti Outdoors”.
Our Quality Credentials
Whenua Iti Outdoors is based in Lower Moutere, within easy access to 3 National Parks and alongside some of the best beaches, rivers, lakes and caves in New Zealand. Add to this a 7.5 hectare, specifically designed outdoor education site and you have an ideal outdoor learning environment.
All our programmes offer:
- An engaging and experiential learning experience,
- Development of crucial personal and social development skills,
- Access to subsidies through Whenua Iti Outdoor contracts with the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Youth Development and the Ministry of Social Development funding.
Our Safety Credentials
Safety of our participants is of utmost importance to Whenua Iti Outdoors. Our safety management systems and procedures have been developed over our 30 year history of providing outdoor experiences.
Our safety systems and staff skills are constantly being review and improved upon, in order to provide managed challenge that balances acceptable risk with learning outcomes.
Whenua Iti Outdoors is registered with WorkSafe NZ as a provider of adventure activities, and is subject to regular external audits as part our OutdoorsMark audit certification.
